Govt allocates Rs 100 cr for community radio in 12th Plan

Five hundred community radio stations are to be set up during the plan
period

New Delhi: The government has allocated Rs 100 crore for community radio in
the 12th Plan (2012-17), said Manish Tewari, minister of information and
broadcasting, while delivering the valedictory address at the third
National Community Radio Sammelan on Monday.
Five hundred community radio stations are to be set up during the plan
period. The government has allocated Rs 90 crore for financial support and
Rs 10 crore for training, capacity building and awareness campaigns of
community radio stations, Tewari said.
